Phobia’s first foray into production came in 2000 when he bought a Yamaha sampler after spending time at L Double’s Flex studios and picking up the production bug.
After a year spent learning his equipment inside out he gave a CD to L Double containing “Still Want Your Touch” and “Countermeasures” which Double immediately took for release on Flex in the summer of 2001. Shortly afterwards, a collaborative effort saw him step up again for the following Flex release, “Klip” and “Escape Hatch” - both 12”s being extremely well received by the press and public alike.
More recently Phobia has released on Renegade Hardware, Renegade Recordings, Universal Project & Critical Music. Contributing a track to the Renegade Hardware LP ‘Guerrilla Warfare’, he also works as part of the Horsemen collective (Loxy, Ink, Phobia, Skitty, Stranjah, Gremlinz, Friske, Cable & Aspect) who released their debut LP on Renegade Hardware in 2005.
In 2006, confirmed projects come in the form of a solo EP entitled ‘All Points North’ for Renegade Hardware, a 12” for Horizons music, a 12” for Hive’s Violence label, a collaboration with MC Verse for his Crunch imprint as well as more music for Hardware, Renegade Recordings and Universal Project.
On top of all this, Phobia also co-runs and is resident at the Turbulence nights in Newcastle. In its eigth year now the night has showcased pretty much anyone who’s anyone in dnb, including Roni Size, Dillinja & Lemon D and Valve, Fabio & Grooverider, Ed Rush, Loxy & Ink, Pendulum, Andy C…the list goes on. The night has quickly established itself as one of the biggest and best drum and bass nights in the North of England with it’s up for it crowd and friendly no attitude atmosphere.
